Bathroom Renovation: the Potential Price

By Jeremy Jordan

The current bathroom remodeling projects often have jacuzzi tubs or whirlpool baths with individual showers. There are a plethora of toilet, vanity, countertop and sink designs and styles that are available in the market at various costs.

Planning is vital to save cost on your bathroom remodeling project. If you plan well ahead of time, you can give a brand new look to your bathroom at a lesser price. However, the look and feel of the bathroom depends on your creativity and efforts. It is not required that you have to replace all the bathroom fixtures in order to remodel a bathroom. With a little creativity and effort, you can simply restore your existing fixtures and make it look like new. For example, when you consider toilets, most home owners prefer to retain the older models than replacing it with new. Although the new model toilets are Eco friendly, they cannot flush more water as that of older toilets. This is why the old model toilets are preserved during the bathroom remodeling projects.

Being used during the start and end of the day, bathrooms are often considered as the vital part of the home. Spending on a bathroom remodel project may yield you great returns even if you don't choose to live in the home.

At times, a bathroom remodeling project can seem messy and annoying. The bathrooms are often present right outside the bedroom or inside the master bedroom. However, another setback of a bathroom remodeling is that they can cause cleanliness problems. The remodeling projects may even cause significant disruptions that may last for more than a month.

To mitigate the disruption of a bathroom remodeling project, planning is absolutely essential. The first thing you need to consider is to hire a professional contractor or do it yourself. Regardless of what route, a homeowner needs to first sketch out some bathroom remodeling ideas to ensure the bathroom design and cost estimates will meet their targeted functional requirements and budget. If a general contractor is to be hired these initial sketches will be helpful in communicating your bathroom remodeling plans and ideas.

Identifying the objectives of the remodel is an important part of the planning. You got to decide whether you need to have a jacuzzi or whirlpool tub in your bathroom. Also, think whether you need a pedestal sink instead of a traditional vanity. Researching about the latest products like cabinets/vanities, countertops, toilets, shower/tubs and flooring will also help you make the right plan for your remodeling project. Most of the homeowners prefer to use tiles in bathroom floors and walls. Unlike vinyl or Linoleum flooring materials, tiles adds a special elegance to your bathroom.

It is also important to consider any structural changes to the existing bathroom area. In particular, if a Jacuzzi or whirlpool tub is to be installed a deck area will probably need to be framed in. In addition, if overhead lighting is desired then soffits may need to be framed in.

The placement of toilet, shower/tub and vanity has to be identified in the bathroom remodel sketch. The dimensions for each of the utilities have to be specified in the sketch. If you have any preference on manufacturers, you can also specify that in your sketch. The completed sketch can be submitted to a remodeling contractor. The sketch will help the contractor to estimate the cost for your bathroom remodel project.
